“The September [SDG] Summit is going to define the accountability framework for the remainder of the 2030 Agenda. We are very concerned about shared commitments.
…We need to take a closer look, and civil society has been at the forefront of doing this. We don’t address the very unequal responsibilities of how we got into this very unequal world. We don’t address the vastly differentiated responsibilities when it comes to making the corrections that are being called for. Let’s hope that the summit and the process leading up to it break this pattern of outsourcing governance that we have been involved in.
Outsourcing to powerful financial players, public and private, that frankly are beyond the reach of those who are living the daily realities of the multiple policy failures that have certainly contributed to the multiple crises that we are all facing together.”
