Looking towards the 11th Session of the Expert Mechanism on Right to Development (EMRTD) (2-4 April 2025 at UNHQ) | GPF Fact Sheet No. 8, March 2025
EMRTD provides the Human Rights Council with thematic expertise on the Right to Development, identifying and sharing best practices with Member States and promotes implementation of the Right to Development.
The 11th Session of the EMRTD will explore the current international context for realizing the Right to Development, including the adoption of a legally binding instrument on the Right to Development. The session will further evaluate obstacles and ways to ensure continued commitment to international cooperation and financing for development, drawing upon and contributing to ongoing negotiations of the 4th Financing for Development Conference (30 June – 3 July 2025 in Sevilla).
Focused thematic discussions of the EMRTD will center on the following themes:
