Heads of State and Government, and ministers from Member States – with a video message from the President of the State of Palestine – came to open the 80th session of the UN General Assembly at the UN Headquarters during the High-Level Week.
They discussed the full range of topics, including ongoing conflicts, impact of climate change, development financing, and the future of multilateralism, with UN reform and the UN80 Initiative as a throughline. Rampant challenges to multilateralism and the urgent need to address them were a consistent theme in the statements.
